Appalachian Homestead Services is here to help you create your own sustainable homestead. Services include off grid solar, farm and home consulting, permaculture, and solar wells, as well as installation and implementation of sustainable practices. Appalachian Homestead Services is based in East Tennessee and can travel throughout the region.
Off-grid solar services include installation of solar water wells with water storage tanks and battery based, off-grid solar electricity for home or farm, and rainwater harvesting.
Orchard and vineyard services include site analysis, layout, planting of recommended hardy varieties, installation, soil improvement, drip irrigation, trellis construction, custom grafting, and pruning.
Whole farm and home consulting including general layout, recommendations, energy savings, sustainable practices, soil health and organic amendments.
About David: David Maasberg is the founder and owner of Appalachian Homestead Services. He is a homesteader and sustainable farmer based in the mountains of East Tennessee with over 25 years of experience in sustainable agriculture and off-grid living. His path has lead him far from his conventional farming roots in Southern Indiana and he has gained experience through river clean-ups, internships at a biodynamic farm, landscaping with a focus on native plants, solar installation, working with AmeriCorps, and being a camp counselor.
David currently resides at his 14 acre homestead complete with a high tunnel greenhouse, a food forest, an heirloom apple orchard, and hiking trails through the regenerated native ecoystem. His home and well are powered by solar.
